What never reaches our servers
Timer state, agendas, teleprompter scripts, and Room Share’s PDFs, pictures of pages and voice stay on your devices. They travel directly between your devices over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection on your network, and are kept only in your browser.
When a screen is shared, the file stays on the presenter’s device. The screen receives pictures of the page being shown and the pages next to it, and people watching receive what the screen shows. Pictures are held in memory until the presentation ends. So that a reload or a closed tab loses nothing, the browser of the screen keeps the session’s timer, agenda and script until the session ends.
What we store
- Account (when you sign in with Google): your Google account id, email address, name and profile picture, and when you signed in.
- Access and purchases: your plan, its status and end date, the amount and date of purchases, your Stripe customer and subscription ids, and when you chose free access with ads. Stripe handles your card; we never see or store card details.
- Screen sessions (temporary): a session id, hashes of its access tokens, the account controlling it and how it was unlocked. The connection details your phone and screen exchange to find each other, which include network addresses, pass through our server and are deleted within 2 minutes. A session record is deleted within minutes of ending, and after 12 hours at most.
- Shared screens (temporary): the screen’s code, the host’s first name, the name each person types, the kind of device (phone, tablet, computer or TV), whether they asked to present or watch, whether they were allowed, and when. A keyed hash of the screen’s network address lets people on the same network find it. All of it is deleted when the session ends, and after 12 hours at most.
- Abuse limits: a keyed hash of your network address, used to limit how many codes a network can request and how many room requests it can make. It is deleted after an hour.
- Logs: our application logs carry ids and event names, not your email, tokens or card details. Our hosting provider also keeps standard request logs.
Cookies and browser storage
We use a cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores your settings, your agenda and script, and the screen you are connected to. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Advertising
We show ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center, and opt out of other vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info. See also how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Who helps us run Ushow
- Google: sign-in, advertising, and a network service that helps devices on the same network find each other.
- Stripe: payments.
- Cloudflare: the database holding accounts and access.
- Upstash: temporary screen sessions and who is in them.
- Vercel: hosting.
They process data for these purposes, and may do so in the United States and other countries. We do not sell your personal information for money. Advertising cookies may count as “sharing” under some privacy laws; the opt-outs above apply.
How long we keep it, and your choices
We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion at [email protected], and we will answer within 30 days. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Ushow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has signed in, write to us and we will delete the account.
Changes and contact
We will change the date above when this policy changes. Questions: [email protected].
